Solskjaer confident Paul Pogba will stay with the club next season

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is confident that Paul Pogba will be staying put with the club next season. The France international had recently revealed his ambition of playing for Real Madrid and reports have since linked him with a potential move to the Bernabeu during the summer.

Speaking in a press conference, Solskjaer was asked whether the midfielder would be at the club next season and he answered the question confidently saying: “I think he will be here next season. Paul has done fantastic for us. We want him to do well. He is a leader in the dressing room. If I could guarantee I would say yes. You can’t guarantee but I think he will be.”

Pogba had been in tremendous form at the beginning of the year and he had contributed nine goals and eight assists between January and February. However, he has not managed to replicate the form thereafter and that has posed question marks whether he has lost the focus amid the constant speculation with Real Madrid.

According to reports, there are suggestions that the midfielder has developed a fragile relationship with Ole and does not believe the Norwegian can guide the club to Premier League success in the near future. It is further added that the player’s agent has decided against holding talks over a new contract and it remains to be seen how United handle the situation at the end of the season.

United are currently three points behind the top four positions in the Premier League and they face a must-win game against Chelsea this weekend. The Blues are currently holding the final Champions League spot with a three-point advantage and United need to secure maximum points on Sunday to stand any chance of qualifying for the elite competition. However, that won’t be easy considering they have suffered defeats in seven of the previous nine matches.
