José Mourinho has not even officially taken up his role as the new AS Roma manager but that has not stopped him from making arrangements before taking over at the helm. The former Chelsea manager was announced as the new manager for the Italian Serie A giants ahead of next season and will be taking over before the club start preparations for their summer pre-season camp training and games.

The Portuguese manager has now started creating a list of the players he would like to sign for the Serie A giants, and his former player, Nemanja Matic has been reported as his first likely signing at the club. The Manchester United midfielder has been strongly linked with an exit from Old Trafford since last summer’s transfer window but the Red Devils have reportedly not received any concrete offer for him yet.

The 33-year-old was said to be attracting interest from abroad, with several clubs in the United States Major League Soccer monitoring his situation at United, but his heart could be set elsewhere with his former boss planning a reunion with him at Roma.

United are said to be willing to listen to offers for the Serbian international midfielder and he could be leaving as early as this summer. The Red Devils will be willing to accept a fee in the region of €10 million for the midfield star and is one of the rumored players that could be leaving the Theater of Dreams before the start of next season.

Matic would reportedly fancy a move to Roma because of the desire to play under Mourinho who was responsible for engineering his move to Stanford Bridge some years ago. United will also be expected to sign a replacement for the Serbian if he leaves the club this summer and they have already started identifying possible targets.
